Kian D. Khatibi, Esq., is a multifaceted professional whose expertise spans across law, real estate, and the restaurant industry. He graduated with Honors from New York University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Media, Culture & Communication with a focus on Persuasion & Politics and Interaction & Social Processes. Awarded substantial scholarships, Mr. Khatibi furthered his education at the Cardozo School of Law, where he specialized in Constitutional Law & Government, as well as Criminal Law & Procedure.
During his academic journey, Mr. Khatibi was an active community volunteer with the Westchester Jewish Community Services, contributing to social and educational causes. His early commitment to social justice led him to become the founding in-house counsel for the 501(c) non-profit, The Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice. In this role, he sued the New York Police Department (NYPD) under New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), forcing the NYPD to disclose sensitive documents relating to a murder in Queens, New York and resulting in a judge ruling that his expertise warranted an hourly rate of $400, “commensurate with a seasoned FOIL lawyer.” This case underscored his impact on transparency in the criminal justice system in New York City.
Before entering the legal arena, Mr. Khatibi was already a successful entrepreneur. He owned the renowned Seaport House and CASA TuLuM restaurants, exemplifying his acumen in business and customer relations. This business experience has equipped him with invaluable interpersonal and analytical skills, which he employs to provide the highest quality of legal representation to his clients.
In 2017, Mr. Khatibi founded Moorecraft Group, LLC, a New York State licensed real estate brokerage. Operating in the heart of New York City, Moorecraft Group serves as a full-service real estate investment, advisory, and brokerage firm. His extensive background in law and business enables him to navigate complex real estate transactions with a keen understanding of legal implications.
Mr. Khatibi is a member of the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Bar Association, and the New York Civil Liberties Union.
